ABOUT ME

I was born, raised, and educated in New Jersey.  Prior to moving to the Upper Delaware River valley in 2002, I taught high school English, creative writing and media literacy for 28 years.

My poems and essays have been published widely over the years. In 2003, 2004 and 2006 my work was included in the Women Artists Datebook published by Syracuse Cultural Workers. Nationally acclaimed poet Marvin Bell selected two of my poems for Honorable Mention in the 2006 poetry contest sponsored by the literary magazine Perigee. I was also the recipient of the Judge’s Award in the 2006 Betty June Silconas Poetry Contest and received Honorable Mention in the Mulberry Poets and Writers Association 7th Annual Regional Poetry Awards, 2008. My second book of poems, "Final Story," was published in 2009, following the publication of Reclamation in 2005. From 2007 until February 2013, I wrote a monthly column on sustainable living for an award-winning regional newspaper.

When I am not writing, I make temari, Japanese thread balls. I also enjoy hiking, bird watching, snowshoeing, and rafting on the river.
